Smart Meters
The Ontario Government has passed legislation to install a smart electricity meter in homes and small businesses by 2010.
In support of this, Westario Power will install smart meters in its service territory in 2008. While the meters will be installed in 2008, we will continue to read the meters monthly as we would a conventional meter.
In 2009, it is anticipated that Westario Power will begin implementing the software changes necessary to begin reading the smart meters remotely.
That is, we will download the meter readings directly into our data collection computers.
